Welcome to Industrial Rail Journal
Industrial Rail Journal (IRJ) was created to provide focused coverage of one of the most important but often overlooked sectors of the rail industry: industrial rail operations.
Across North America, thousands of facilities rely on rail transportation as part of their daily operations. From chemical plants and steel mills to grain terminals and transload facilities, industrial rail infrastructure plays a critical role in supporting manufacturing, logistics, and supply chain operations.
Despite its importance, much of the conversation within the rail industry tends to focus on the mainline railroad network. Industrial Rail Journal was created to highlight the people, operations, and infrastructure that make rail served industry possible.
IRJ focuses specifically on the operational side of industrial rail. This includes plant level switching operations, transload facilities, rail infrastructure, equipment usage, and the safety and regulatory considerations that come with operating in a rail served environment.
Through company features, industry insights, and operational discussions, Industrial Rail Journal aims to provide a platform where rail served industries and service providers can share knowledge, highlight innovation, and contribute to the broader conversation surrounding industrial rail transportation.
Our publication will regularly feature rail served facilities, industry vendors, contractors, and professionals who are actively involved in maintaining and improving industrial rail operations.
By highlighting real operations and real experiences within the industry, IRJ hopes to provide practical insight while also recognizing the companies and individuals who keep rail logistics moving every day.
Industrial Rail Journal is committed to maintaining a professional, industry-focused publication that serves as a resource for professionals working in industrial rail environments.
As the publication grows, we look forward to expanding our coverage, connecting with new companies across the industry, and continuing to document the evolving role of rail within modern supply chains.
